“They gave us a reason to be angry. We turned that anger into a force to be reckoned with!” - Scott Neumann

Our Humble Beginnings:

My son, Jason, was born in 2006, and from his very first moments, my life was forever changed. Due to medical malpractice, Jason suffered a catastrophic brain injury that left him blind, living with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and significant physical and intellectual disabilities. As we sat in the NICU, his little body struggling to breathe, I made him a promise. I swore to God and Jason that if he survived, I would spend every day trying to make his world as “normal and fun filled” as I could.

In 2021 I met and eventually married an amazing woman who not only loved me but had a heart big enough to embrace and love Jason. Jason loved her right back. My wife, with her unwavering compassion, strength and commitment helped transform my journey from one carrying the weight alone to sharing a life filled with hope, laughter, fun and purpose. Together, as a team, we have faced Jason’s many doctor’s appointments, surgeries, therapies, challenges and victories. Glory to God, Jason is making great strides.

In early July 2026 what should have been a simple family breakfast became yet another reminder of the barriers our son must face. After an enjoyable breakfast, we attempted to make our way out of the establishment only to discover that the careless owner of a large e- bike, had parked it on the wheelchair ramp. A confrontation between myself, the bike owner and the establishment ensued when the staff said he did not have to move the bike “because he always parks it there”. The argument exploded with years of bottled- up frustration spilling out and ended with me calling the local police to get the matter rectified. From that day forward, with my wife by my side, we have made it our mission to call out noncompliance and discrimination. We will no longer accept excuses disguised as ignorance. We believe silence protects discrimination, where action creates change.

This is Jason. Every day, we work hard to make his world fun, exciting, and accessible. We never take “no” for an answer. There’s a new breed of advocate in town—meet the Neumanns.
