Meet Our Board of Directors
A Message from Our Founders
Every nonprofit begins with a purpose. The Angry Wheelchair Dad Foundation Inc. was founded on the belief that people with disabilities deserve dignity. respect, and equal opportunity - not just because the law requires it, but because it is what’s right. Our family has known the blessings and challenges of disability. Those experiences taught us that advocacy means more than speaking out loudly: it means showing up, listening, educating, encouraging, and working with others on practical solutions. The name Angry Wheelchair Dad reflects our determination to challenge unnecessary barriers and advocate for meaningful change - not anger for its own sake, but a refusal to accept preventable obstacles to dignity, independence, or opportunity. We believe every person has value, and that communities are stronger when everyone has equal access. If future directors ask why this foundation exists, we hope the answer remains simple: Because every person deserves to belong.
Scott & Brenda Neumann - Cofounders
“Being President of the Angry Wheelchair Dad Foundation isn’t just a title—it’s a fight I live every single day. I’m a husband to a disabled wife and a father to a disabled son, and I’ve seen the people I love face barriers, discrimination, and judgment in a world that too often makes them feel like they don’t belong. Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I’m loud. And yes, I’m confrontational—because I’m fighting for my family. I’ve taken that anger and turned it into purpose. It’s no longer just about my wife and son, but about everyone living with a disability. You can count on me to speak up, push back, and raise a little hell until people like my wife and son are heard, seen, respected, and treated like they matter—because they do!”

“Becoming disabled after an automobile accident in 2024 has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges many face every day. I know how important it is to feel seen, heard, and valued. I have what’s called a Dynamic or Fluctuating Disability, which means my abilities can change significantly from day to day—one day I might move around unassisted, and the next I may rely on an assistive device. Because of this, people sometimes assume I’m not disabled or think I’m “faking it.” They don’t see the numb feet or heavy legs. They don’t notice the TENS unit on my lower back, and they definitely don’t understand the effects pain medication and lack of sleep have on my brain on those days. I’m honored to be part of this organization, where I can speak out for others like me. I want to advocate, educate, and help create a community that’s more aware, more inclusive and welcoming”.
Barbara Carlson - Treasurer

“I am the proud mother of two, a wife and dedicated special education professional. Working in special education has given me the opportunity to see firsthand the importance of inclusion, advocacy and creating opportunity for individuals with disabilities. Little changes make huge differences! I joined Angry Wheelchair Foundation Inc. because I believe everyone deserves to be seen, heard, respected and included. I am honored to use my personal and professional experience to advocate, educate and help create meaningful change in our community.”

Judy Tienken - Board member
“I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Angry Wheelchair Dad Foundation Inc. As someone who has survived multiple spinal cord injuries, I know firsthand how important accessibility, ADA compliance, and inclusion are. I’ve faced discrimination, ignorance, and blatant disregard for the law. Drawing from my past work with Family of Woodstock on community fundraising, I’m ready to contribute my personal and professional experience. I imagine a community where access is universal and everyone is included”.
